MOTHERS & MOON · DOULA LINDSAY

Doula support, shaped around you.

In Wetteren, Ghent & Aalst

Pregnancy and birth bring so much with them. Questions, hopes and sometimes uncertainty. I take the time to get to know you and your birth partner, help you prepare and remain a familiar face throughout your birth.

Doula Lindsay of Mothers & Moon practises using a TENS machine during an antenatal consultation at home.

As part of your doula support

Rituals around birth

Some parents wish to honour the connection with the placenta or mark the moment when the umbilical cord is separated. We talk through your wishes beforehand and explore what is practical within your doula support and care setting.

(Half) Lotus Birth

Honouring the connection with the placenta

With a Half Lotus Birth, the baby remains connected to the placenta for a while after birth. A full Lotus Birth involves waiting for the umbilical cord to separate naturally. For some parents, this holds personal or symbolic meaning.

Is this something you would like? Discuss it with your midwife or doctor in advance. As part of your doula support, we can explore its meaning for you and your wishes around the placenta. Medical and practical arrangements are made with your care providers.

Included when this forms part of your doula support.

Cord Burning Ceremony

A symbolic moment of transition

In a Cord Burning Ceremony, heat is used to separate the umbilical cord. Parents may experience this as a meaningful moment to mark the transition from a physical connection to a new chapter.

We discuss beforehand what draws you to this ritual and how you would like to mark the transition. Whether it is possible, and the practical arrangements, are agreed with your midwife or doctor and your birth setting.

Included when this forms part of your doula support.

Does one of these rituals feel right for you? You are welcome to bring it up during our introduction or an antenatal consultation.

Let’s talk about your wishes

Getting to know each other. Preparing together.

Connection, preparation and trust are at the heart of my support. Step by step, we build a relationship that feels familiar and reassuring.

01

Connection

Our first meeting is about you, rather than the birth.

We make space for your story, wishes and any worries you may have. This creates a safe foundation of trust that we can build on throughout our time together.

02

Preparation

Feeling prepared brings peace of mind.

During our consultations, we explore how birth can unfold, the choices available to you and how your birth partner can support you. We practise practical techniques and prepare together, step by step.

03

Trust

The pieces come together.

We bring your wishes together in a personal birth plan, talk through informed choices and leave room for the unexpected. The aim is to understand what matters to you and approach birth with confidence, while allowing it to unfold.

You don’t have to predict everything to give birth with confidence.

Thoughtful preparation gives you something to hold on to, even when birth unfolds differently from what you expected.

WHAT CONTINUOUS SUPPORT CAN MEAN

Support that goes beyond feeling reassured

During birth, I stay beside you. I offer calm, practical support and information, guided by what you need in the moment.

Research shows that continuous, personal support during birth can contribute to more positive experiences and better birth outcomes.
